OU Law School in black and whiteSaturday, March 13, at 2 p.m. a keynote panel discussion will be held at the University of Oklahoma Law School. Moderator, David Draper Clark, and crime novel enthusiasts Jim Davis, Bill Hagen, and David Kipen will take a closer look at the crime classic The Maltese Falcon and discuss its characters, themes, symbolism, and why it is more than just a whodunit.

The Keynote Panel Discussion, The Maltese Falcon: The Plot Thickens, is free and open to the public. Free visitor parking for this event is located on the south side of the Law School. To get to this parking lot take Asp Ave. south past Timberdell Road. Turn at the first right, and it is the second building on the right. Click here to download directions.

black and white trolley photographCome celebrate the Big Read Kick-Off on March 12 at 6:00 p.m. during Norman's 2nd Friday Circuit of Art! Dress in costume to get into the film noir spirit. Period accessories include dark lipsticks and feathered hats, or fedoras and trench coats. An array of art galleries, studios, restaurants, and other Main Street venues will be open late to welcome visitors. Some will have special Big Read themed tie-ins, so be sure to check out these hot spots.  Click here to view a map of the 2nd Friday Cart Route

The Performing Arts Studio (stop 12)
This is The Big Read headquarters for the evening where guests can get a free copy of the novel, sign up for book discussions and programs, and enjoy free snacks and live music.

The Diner (stop 14)
This old-fashioned diner will be open late to serve a special Big Read themed breakfast: Sam Spade Spam & Eggs.

The Crucible Foundry and Gallery (stop 18)
Artist Jeff Littlejohn will display the falcon series of sculptures commissioned for The Big Read and show a documentary about its creation.
